President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji on his resounding victory in Saturday’s Ekiti State gubernatorial election. The President described the win as a clear demonstration of the people’s trust in the governor’s leadership and vision for the state.
In his congratulatory message, President Tinubu commended the people of Ekiti State for conducting a peaceful and orderly election. He also praised law enforcement agencies for their role in maintaining law and order throughout the process, ensuring a smooth democratic exercise.
The President urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to sustain its efforts in delivering credible elections as the nation prepares for the Osun State governorship poll in August and the general elections next year. He emphasized the importance of continuous improvement in electoral integrity.
Governor Oyebanji has made history by becoming the first governor in Ekiti State to secure back-to-back re-election. His first term was marked by notable achievements in infrastructure development, agriculture, youth employment, education, healthcare, and rural development under the BAO agenda.
President Tinubu noted that the overwhelming victory represents a strong vote of confidence in continuity, stability, and people-centred governance. He urged the governor to remain magnanimous in victory and to carry all residents of Ekiti along as he builds on his achievements in the next four years.
The President called on all election participants to rally behind Governor Oyebanji for the overall development of the state. He reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to partnering with the Ekiti State Government to deliver more dividends of democracy and advance the Renewed Hope Agenda nationwide, while praying for wisdom, strength, and good health for the governor.
