The Senior Special Adviser to the Cross River State Government on the Think Cross River Project, Papa Dorn Cklaimz Enamhe, has dismissed reports claiming that three accidents occurred in the convoy of the state’s Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Peter Agbe Odey, describing the reports as false and misleading.
Enamhe, who said he travelled with the Deputy Governor on their way back from northern Cross River, explained that only one accident occurred during the journey. According to him, the incident involved the last vehicle in the convoy, identified as the Government House Press Bus.
He said preliminary observations indicated that the bus might have suffered brake failure before crashing into an army checkpoint. Enamhe added that some occupants of the vehicle sustained minor injuries, but no serious injury was recorded, expressing gratitude to God for the outcome.
The Senior Special Adviser, however, said investigations were still ongoing to determine whether the accident was caused by a mechanical fault or driver error. He stressed that the Deputy Governor was safe and that neither his vehicle nor any other vehicle in the convoy was involved in the incident.
Enamhe also clarified that another accident being referenced in some reports occurred in June and involved the state’s Press Secretary, Barrister Fred Abua, during a private family trip. He said the incident had no connection with the Deputy Governor’s convoy, urging the public not to conflate the two incidents.
He appealed to members of the public and social media users to verify information before sharing it, warning that the circulation of unverified reports could cause unnecessary panic and affect the mental well-being of families and loved ones.
