Guaranty Trust Bank (GTB), a leading Nigerian financial institution, has responded to recent reports that its website was hacked, resulting in the theft of customer data.
The bank has denied these claims, stating that it does not store customer information on its website, making it impossible for hackers to access or steal sensitive data.
In a statement GTB acknowledged an attempt to compromise its website domain but emphasized that its website was not cloned, and customer data remained secure.
The bank’s Information Security Experts are working to restore domain settings, and GTB assured customers that its website will be operational soon. The bank urged customers to disregard reports of data compromise and expressed its commitment to protecting customer information.
GTB’s statement read: “We are working to restore our website and assure our customers that their data is safe. We do not store customer information on our website, and therefore, there has been no compromise of customer data. Thank you for your continued support.”
