‘YOU’RE FANNING FLAMES OF DISUNITY’–FIX PDP, FIX NIGERIA MOVEMENT TELLS PDP NATIONAL LEGAL ADVISER

The Fix PDP, Fix Nigeria Movement (Abuja Chapter) has strongly condemned the conduct of the Peoples Democratic Party’s National Legal Adviser, Barr. Kamaldeen Ajibade (SAN), during Tuesday’s proceedings at the Federal High Court, Abuja, describing his actions as self-serving, divisive, and detrimental to the unity and credibility of the party.

The group’s spokesperson, Musa Haruna, in a statement issued on Wednesday, said Ajibade’s behaviour in court—where he openly challenged the mandate of counsel appointed by the party’s National Chairman, Ambassador Umar Damagum—was not only unethical but also a direct affront to constituted party authority.

“At a time when the PDP should be consolidating its structures and presenting a united front ahead of its national convention, it is unfortunate that the National Legal Adviser has chosen to fan the flames of disunity and embarrass the party before the entire nation,” Haruna said.

“By contesting the clear instructions of the National Chairman in open court, Barrister Ajibade has shown blatant disregard for party hierarchy and due process. His conduct is unbecoming of an officer of the law and a national officer of our great party.”

The statement further noted that the embarrassing scene in court—where two senior lawyers, Chris Uche (SAN) and Kamaldeen Ajibade (SAN), both claimed to represent the PDP—had brought needless ridicule to the party and delayed an important legal process concerning the forthcoming national convention.

Haruna emphasized that the Fix PDP, Fix Nigeria group stands firmly with the National Chairman, Ambassador Umar Damagum, and the party’s leadership as constituted, urging Ajibade to desist from actions capable of undermining internal cohesion and distracting from the party’s mission to reclaim power at the centre.

“This is not the time for personal ego or constitutional gymnastics. The PDP is bigger than any individual. We therefore urge Barrister Ajibade to submit himself to party discipline and immediately retract his reckless position,” the statement added.

The condemnation from Fix PDP, Fix Nigeria comes amid growing backlash from prominent party leaders, including former Senate President Bukola Saraki, Senate Minority Leader Abba Moro, and the Governor of Plateau State, all of whom have publicly dissociated themselves from Ajibade’s actions and reaffirmed their loyalty to the party’s leadership.

“The party must now move swiftly to address this internal sabotage. The PDP cannot afford to enter its national convention season divided. The Fix PDP, Fix Nigeria Movement calls on the National Working Committee (NWC) to take decisive action to restore discipline, unity, and focus within the ranks,” the statement concluded.
