
Market hours in Lagos State have now been extended as the Government adjusts the Corona virus lockdown rules.
Instead of the 9am to 4pm routine, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has approved that markets in the state for food and non-food items can now open at 8am and close at 6pm.
A statement issued by the Commissioner for Local Government and Community Affairs, Dr Wale Ahmed, said the decision of the Lagos market hours by Governor Sanwo-Olu is to further enhance trade and commerce as well as mitigate the hardship of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Ahmed emphasised the alternate days of operations will remains in force whereby food markets open on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday while non -food markets open on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
The Commissioner, urged all traders to adhere strictly to the Covid-19 protocols for their safety and that of the citizenry at large.
The statement reads; “Lagos markets are now expected to open at 8am and close at 6pm henceforth.
“The decision by Governor Babajide Sanwoolu is to further enhance trade and commerce as well as mitigate the hardship of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“The alternate days of operations will remain in force whereby food markets open on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday while non-food markets open on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday“.
