Veteran Nigerian rapper and activist, Eedris Abdulkareem, has unveiled a new civic advocacy initiative titled “Nigerian Governors Report Card Series,” a project designed to assess the performance of governors across Nigeria’s 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Speaking during the unveiling of the project at De-Santos Hotels, Lagos, on Thursday, August 6, 2026, Abdulkareem said the initiative, spearheaded by Lakreem Entertainment Ltd, aims to promote accountability, transparency and good governance by evaluating governors based on their delivery of democratic dividends to the people.
According to the musician, the series will scrutinise how state governments utilise public funds, with particular attention to infrastructure development, security, protection of lives and property, and other measurable indices of governance. He said the project is intended to ensure that elected leaders remain accountable to the citizens they serve.
Abdulkareem explained that the report card series would celebrate governors who demonstrate visionary leadership and tangible achievements while exposing those who fail to meet the expectations of the people. He stressed that non-performing and allegedly corrupt governors would be publicly called out for poor governance and misuse of public resources.
He added that the initiative would also recognise governors who have distinguished themselves through impactful leadership, describing the project as a patriotic effort to encourage excellence in public service and inspire better governance across the country.
The veteran entertainer announced that Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, is the first governor to be featured in the maiden edition of the series. He described Otti as a “game changer” and “transformative leader,” stating that the governor’s achievements have become widely recognised both within and outside Abia State.
Abdulkareem revealed that the maiden edition is presented through three original songs titled “Overcoming Challenges,” “Inspired to Serve,” and “Vacancy No Dey.”
He explained that the songs chronicle Otti’s political journey, his vision for rebuilding Abia State, and what he described as the widespread public endorsement of the governor’s performance after three years in office.
The singer said “Overcoming Challenges” reflects Otti’s resilience and determination in overcoming political obstacles, while “Inspired to Serve” highlights the governor’s commitment to repositioning Abia State. He noted that “Vacancy No Dey” captures the positive feedback his team claimed to have received from residents during interviews conducted across the state.
Concluding his address, Abdulkareem described the project as a people-driven assessment of governance, saying the report card on Governor Alex Otti had been “marked, verified and certified” by the people of Abia State. He also disclosed that subsequent editions of the “Nigerian Governors Report Card Series” will feature governors from other states across the federation.
