Matthew Seiyefa, a director of the Department of State Services (DSS) from Bayelsa State, has been appointed as Acting Director-General of the service. This followed the sack of Lawal Daura, the Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS) by Acting President Yemi Osinbajo on Tuesday afternoon.
A terse statement from the office of the acting president had informed that “the Acting President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, has directed the termination of the appointment of the Director-General, State Security Service, Lawal Musa Daura with immediate effect”.
Lawal Daura has been directed to hand over to the most senior officer of the State Security Service until further notice.”
It is unclear if Osinbajo’s action is connected with the siege laid to the national assembly. Federal lawmakers were denied access to the upper and lower legislative chambers on Tuesday morning.
Seiyefa, the most senior Director in the Department of State Services (DSS), will act as Director-General until further notice.
From Bayelsa State, Seiyefa was the director, Institute of Security Studies, Abuja.
