Sun ree o Baba Daa da
In my Journey as K1′ s manager for 18years, I was close to Baba before he became the Olubadan at which time I had moved on to other priorities.
Baba Adetunji as we call him was the owner of Omo-Aje records under whose label K1 releases most of his albums.
We had so many periods of laughter with stories he will tell us, we also had so many clashes as he thought I was pulling K1 away from Omo-Aje records.
I just wanted things to move with the trend at that time. Alhaji will always run away from him due to the respect he had for him and push me forward to conclude deals with Omo-Aje.
Of note Baba once came to where I could be found in Surulere then to insist that he will be the one to sell one of K1s album, I think it was “Fuji Fusion”. I refused just to make him push how much he was offering up. I told him I have an “omo ibo” outside who was willing to pay ×3 of what he offered. He went back to his car and brought out that I asked for.
He also traveled down to Abeokuta when I was having my 2nd child’s naming and stayed till very late.
Like he always told us “if God could just make me Olubadan for 1 day, I am fulfilled”.
God granted him his wish! He died with fulfillment.
May his soul rest in perfect peace.
