PIONEER ACTORS GUILD PRESIDENT, LARI WILLIAMS FOR BURIAL APRIL 14TH IN CROSS RIVER

The remains of veteran Nollywood actor, Lari Williams, will be committed to mother earth on Thursday April 14, 2022.

According to our source, the burial rites, will commence on Wednesday, April 13, 2022 at his home with a service of songs cum wake keep.

The late Thespian will then be buried next day after a church service at Yala Nkum, Ikom Local Government Area, Cross River State.

Lari Williams, was the pioneer president of the Nigerian Actors Guild, now Actors’ Guild of Nigeria (AGN). An accomplished actor and teacher, his career spanned over five decades.

Lari Williams was one of the first Blacks to perform at West End, London. Among other feats, Williams is the first actor to ever perform on top of Zuma Rock in Abuja FCT, 1,200 feet high, where he performed his late friend, Maman Vatsa’s poem, ‘The bird that sings in the rain.’

He was bestowed with the prestigious national honour of  Member of the Order of the Federal Republic, MFR, in 2008.

Educated at CMS Grammar School, Lagos, he also studied journalism at the London School of Journalism. He studied drama at Morley College, Mountview Theatre School (London) and then the University of Iowa in the United States of America.

Williams died at the age of 81 on Sunday February 27, 2022 after a protracted illness.
