JOURNALISTS IN LAGOS GET EYE GLASSES AS LIONS INT’L HOLD 10TH REMEMBRANCE FOR PDG YINKA BOLARINWA

Not less than 40 practicing journalists were on Tuesday, December 19, in Lagos, presented with eye glasses sequel to free optical screening excercise organised by the Lions Clubs Multiple District 404 Nigeria.

The event witnessed the journalists at the event have their eyes properly examined while glasses were instantly presented to them.

The free eye screening and offer of eye glasses, were in 10th year comemoration cum memorial service in respect of the death of Yinka Bolarinwa, erstwhile District 404B governor in 2013 and died barely six months in office.

Hosted by Otunba Layiwola Fadairo,  Lions International District  404B3 governor, he stated that the service activity for journalists in Lagos, he described the event as one designed to “remember a man who cannot be forgotten”, stressing that it had come to pass.

Added Fadairo: “Our late Past District governor Yinka Bolarinwa who became the Lions international face of the future in Nigeria 10 years ago, has remained our association face of the future until today”.

He encouraged the late Yinka Bolarinwa’s widow, Mrs. Funmilayo Bolarinwa to remain strong as she would not walk alone.

In his address, Dr. Ibrahim Hide Ballo, Chairperson of the planning committee, Bolarinwa “embodied vision and focus with which obstacles into opportunities while motivating others with passion.

He described the late PDG as a true gem who rewarded excellence and encouraged self-fulfilment, adding that his impact on Lionism the lives he touched through service to humanity resonated profoundly, and that his memory lives on.

Earlier in its address while flagging off the eye screening and presentation of glasses to Mr Gbenga Fatile of Voice of Nigeria, the chairman of the Lions international Memorial service planning committee who also is the district 404B3 1st Vice Governor Dr Jide Bello stated that the late Yinka Bolarinwa was highly media friendly and was always in the news until his demise in 2013.

Dr Jide Bello revealed that, Yinka Bolarinwa’s passion, quest for professional excellence and growth  alongside his love for journalism became manifest when as Managing Director of the then Law Union and Rock Insurance, he became a Columnist with Vanguard newspaper ” Talking Insurance with Yinka Bolarinwa”.

Bello assured journalists of Lions International continued support, just as he noted that the two bodies would continue to be partners in serving humanity.
