Frontline governorship aspirant, Earl Osaro Onaiwu, has urged the Governor of Edo State, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, to create a level playing field for all gubernatorial aspirants in the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Edo State.
Onaiwu, leader of the popular “Solution movement”, made the call following a violent attack on his person by thugs suspected to be hatchet men a PDP governorship aspirant in Edo state in front of the PDP headquarters after an NWC meeting in Abuja, recently.
Speaking on the incident, Onaiwu said: “They are after me because I speak and defend the culture and tradition of my Edo people. But nothing can stop the solution movement of the people..”
Onaiwu who emphasized the importance of fairness and justice in the electoral process, said that all candidates should have an equal opportunity to compete for the party’s ticket.
Onaiwu also called on his fellow gubernatorial aspirants in Edo to rein-in their supporters and caution them against violence and intimidation of opponents.
He emphasized that all aspirants belong to the same party and should focus on uniting to fight the opposition, rather than engaging in internal conflicts.
“The need for peace and party unity has never been more critical, especially with the upcoming gubernatorial elections in Edo State. It is imperative that PDP members come together and work towards a common goal, rather than allowing internal disputes to overshadow their collective mission,” Onaiwu stated.
