IT’S THE BATTLE OF GROUP A AS SUPER EAGLES FACE COTE D’IVOIRE IN AFCON FINALS

Erstwhile Group A rivals, the Super Eagles of Nigeria and hosts Cote d’Ivoire will meet again on Sunday in the final of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Nigeria and the host nation played first on January 18th in their second Group match. Nigeria won the tie 1-0. Via a William Troost-Ekong penalty in the 55th minute. Nigeria, Guinea Bissau, Equatorial Guinea and Cote d’Ivoire played in Group A

Nigeria’s substitute Kelechi Iheanacho scored to give Nigeria a 4-2 penalty shootout victory over South Africa in Wednesday’s semi-final thriller in Bouake. The match had ended one goal apiece.

In the second semi finals, Sebastien Haller had scored to move the hosts Ivory Coast into the Africa Cup of Nations final with a 1-0 win over the Democratic Republic of Congo in Abidjan.
