FIFA U-17 WOMEN’S WORLD CUP: FLAMINGOS BEAT DOMINICAN REPUBLIC 1-0, TO MEET U.S. IN QUARTER FINALS

Dominican Republic’s Renata Mercedes was voted Player of the Match after her team lost 0-1 to rampaging Flamingos of Nigeria in the last Group A game of the 2024 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Dominican Republic.

The hosts put up a superb display in the match played at Felix Sanchez Stadium, Santo Domingo on Tuesday, 22 October 2024 at 19:00 (local time), but succumbed to defeat in the late minutes of the game.

Flamingos Shakirat Moshood broke the hosts’ hearts when she scored the winning goal in the 89th minute of the game. The goal brings Moshood’s tally in the ongoing tournament to four.

The Nigerian girls who ended the group stage with three straight wins will play the United States of America in the Quarter Finals.
