NNL SEASON OPENER: NFF CHARGES REFEREES TO LEAD BY EXAMPLE

The Chairperson of the Nigeria Football Federation(NFF), Referees and Development Committee, Faith Irabor has charged the officiating officials for the Nigeria National League season opener in Abakaliki to be on their toes and to exhibit best practices.

The Committee has appointed one of the nation’s promising young talents Osas Alohan from Edo Council as the referee for the curtain raiser between Abakaliki FC and Madiba FC of Lagos.

Osas Alohan a grade A referee was part of the pre season MA courses recently held in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.

He is a staff of the University of Benin, Edo State.
His first Assitant is Festus German from Delta Referees Council studying at Delta State University.
The second Assistant is a lady, Favour Bogwu also studying at Delta state University.

Sebastine Onwe of Ebonyi referees Council serves as the 4th official.

They will be under the supervision of experienced retired FIFA referee Ijeoma of Anambra referees Council.

Ijeoma Nwosu who retired as Assistant FIFA referee was a Director in the Ministry of Education Anambra State. She is a Pastor of the Redeemed Church.
The match Commissioner who would see to the general organization of the match, Emmanuel Nnadi “Calico” comes with a bunch of experience as a Director with the Imo State Sports Commission.

Faith Irabor a retired FIFA ref herself says…”We are proud of these referees, we do not expect anything less, they know this.”

“They (referees) have been part of our recent developmental programmes, they are young and promising.”

“They know the implication of poor performance, above all, I wish them the very best,” she ended.
