The shortlist for world football’s most prestigious individual award-the Ballon D’Or, has been announced with Ligue 1 side, Paris Saint-Germain(PSG) dominating with nine(9) nominees.
The list was unveiled on Thursday ahead of the award ceremony in Paris on September 22
In the coming weeks, the list will be pruned leaving only the top contenders whose performances over the past 12 months – including at the recent Club World Cup will determine who goes home with the prize currently held by Manchester City’s, Rodri.
Expected to make the final list and even take home the golden ball, is Paris Saint-Germain forward Ousmane Dembele who has other eight of his teammates, including Vitinha, Donnarumma and Achraf Hakimi among the contenders.
Others expected on the final list, include Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal, Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah among others.
