RAS KIMONO’S DAUGHTER, OGE BATTLES LATE FATHER’S WIFE OVER ALLEGED FRAUDULENT SALE OF LAND

In a shocking case of alleged deceit, One Kimono, the daughter of legendary reggae musician Ras Kimono has issued a stern public warning over the fraudulent sale of his property in Ota, Ogun State.

One in a statement on her social media platform alleged that her late father’s wife, Sybil Amuta, also known as Sybil Onwubuya Ekure, is “falsely presenting herself as the lawful wife of the late artist and selling one plot of the estate’s land for ₦15,000,000 on March 17, 2026, with the payment reportedly deposited into an account in her name”.

According to the statement, “the Estate firmly states that Sybil’s marriage to Ras Kimono was legally dissolved in August 2005, and at the time of his death, he was married to Ms. Cynthia Dumas since 2007. Therefore, Sybil has no legal right to act on behalf of the Estate or dispose of any of its assets, rendering the transaction null and void.”

The statement also alleged that funds were reportedly raised in the United States to bring Sybil and her children to Nigeria for Ras Kimono’s funeral, but she allegedly pocketed the money and never appeared, nor has she or her children ever visited his burial site.

Oge Kimono, the late musician’s daughter, emphasized that the family intends to preserve and develop the remaining property in honour of their father’s memory and legacy, while warning that Sybil may attempt to sell the second plot as well.

The statement cautioned that “Prospective buyers and agents have been strongly advised to steer clear of any dealings with Sybil regarding the Estate’s land, as any such transaction is unauthorized and could lead to legal action, including recovery of the property and claims for damages. The family vows to protect Ras Kimono’s legacy through all necessary legal means.”
