The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has strongly refuted claims contained in a malicious video currently circulating online, describing it as completely unrelated to the Commission.
In a press release issued on Monday, April 20, 2026, the anti-graft agency clarified that the video falsely attributes fabricated images, names, and content to it, with some elements reportedly generated using artificial intelligence (AI) to deceive the public.
According to the ICPC, the video makes baseless allegations regarding the alleged involvement of certain individuals, Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SANs), groups of lawyers, and judicial officers in a fictitious ₦50 billion bribe scandal. The Commission emphasized that it has not issued any report or statement endorsing such claims and is not conducting any investigation linked to the supposed transaction.
The ICPC further stressed that no such case, transaction, or probe exists in its official records, describing the entire narrative as entirely false and urging members of the public to disregard it. The agency reiterated its commitment to upholding the highest standards of credibility by conducting only evidence-based investigations strictly in accordance with the law.
In a firm warning to those responsible, the ICPC called on the originators and amplifiers of the video to immediately stop the dissemination of the falsehood. The Commission vowed not to tolerate the misuse of its name and institutional reputation for the sake of “content creation” or any other motive, stating that perpetrators will face serious legal consequences once apprehended.
The press release, signed by J. Okor Odey, Head of Media and Public Communications at the ICPC, advised Nigerians to rely solely on the Commission’s official channels for authentic information. This development highlights growing concerns over the spread of AI-generated disinformation aimed at tarnishing the image of public institutions and individuals.
The ICPC’s swift response underscores its determination to protect its mandate and public trust while sending a clear signal that the agency will deploy the full weight of the law against those engaged in such malicious activities.
