Rangers International Football club of Enugu is set to have an anthem. This may be a first in Nigeria’s history.
And the anthem is coming in a dual package. Coming first in the kit is a cool melancholic melody tracing the history of the Flying Antelopes of Enugu from 1970 taking note of its giant strides over the years and to be delivered during the line up while the second package is a victory song to motivate the team during a match as well as after each win. Many who listen to part B of the Rangers Anthem see is as a toast of the Rangers supporters club.
Listening to the broth being meticulously cooked in two studios by internationally renowned singer, songwriter, multi instrumentalist music producer Mahansa a.k.a Eze Ngwókó will readily take your breath away as to how Enugu’s Cultural and Musical Ambassador was able to weave history and events of Rangers FC, together with calculated instrumentation in combination with superb singing.
In a chat, he narrates with nostalgia how Rangers has been the most enduring legacy of the Igbo man in general and Enugu people in particular.
He says ” tracing the history of Rangers just after the civil war and how it became an Africa respected soccer team is too much to be ignored.
“We are still adding spices to the songs. Also we are in talks with Rangers management towards making the Rangers Anthem go viral as I believe it would be highly motivational for the team to keep aiming for greater heights.”
Mahansa started his music career while a student of Federal Govt College Ugwolawo, former Benue state now Kogi State.
