NDC EXTENDS DEADLINE FOR EXPRESSION OF INTEREST FORMS TO MAY 24

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has announced an extension of the deadline for the collection of Expression of Interest Forms for key elective positions, including State Houses of Assembly, House of Representatives, Senate, and Governorship seats. The new deadline is now set for 12:00 midnight on Sunday, May 24, 2026, extending the earlier closing date of May 17.

According to a press statement signed by the party’s National Secretary, Ikenna Morgan Enekweizu, the extension is intended to give more aspirants the opportunity to participate in the ongoing nomination process. However, the party clarified that the collection of Expression of Interest Forms for the Office of the President has officially closed.

The party further disclosed that screening of aspirants who have already purchased and completed their Expression of Interest Forms will commence on Tuesday, May 19, and end on Tuesday, May 26, 2026. During this period, aspirants are expected to present themselves for screening and pre-qualification interviews at designated venues nationwide.

In addition, the NDC stated that the collection and submission of Nomination Forms for all screened and cleared aspirants will begin on Wednesday, May 20, and close on Tuesday, May 26, 2026. The party emphasized that only aspirants who successfully pass the screening process will be eligible to obtain Nomination Forms.

Aspirants have been directed to appear for screening with relevant documents, including educational certificates, birth certificate or declaration of age, voter’s identification card, party membership card, curriculum vitae, and four recent passport photographs. All documents must be submitted in six copies each to the Screening Committee.

The party noted that screening decisions will be guided by factors such as the wishes of the electorate, local peculiarities, competence, and character of aspirants. It also reiterated its commitment to affirmative action for women, youths, and persons living with disabilities, urging aspirants to embrace consensus-building and strictly adhere to all guidelines and timelines, as no further extension will be granted.
