Umuahia – The Abia State Government has officially released the detailed schedule of activities for the 3rd Anniversary Celebration of Governor Alex Chioma Otti’s administration, highlighting three years of transformative governance across key sectors.
The week-long celebration, which begins on Sunday, May 24, 2026, aims to showcase the administration’s significant achievements in infrastructure development, healthcare, technology, transportation, youth empowerment, water resources, and grassroots development. Through various events including project commissions, flag-offs, and stakeholder engagements, the government intends to present its scorecards and demonstrate its commitment to people-oriented leadership.
On Sunday, May 24, the programme kicks off with an Interdenominational Thanksgiving Service at the Trademore Complex by Okpara Square, opposite Bistro, at 12 noon. Other activities for the day include the flag-off of the Ecumenical Centre and the Ubakala Water Scheme, setting a spiritual and developmental tone for the celebrations.
Monday, May 25, will feature government-focused activities such as a Special Anniversary Executive Council Meeting and the presentation of scorecards by various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs). The day will also see the launch of the NKA TA (Technology Enabling Business Grant), alongside the commissioning of key projects including the Umuikama–Okpuala Nvosi Road and Umunkpeyi–Umuaro Okpokiri Road in Isiala Ngwa South, as well as the Government Cottage Hospital in Umuihie. A flag-off for the Okpuala Ngwa General Hospital is also scheduled.
Tuesday, May 26, promises to be infrastructure-heavy as Governor Alex Otti leads the commissioning and flag-off of multiple road projects in Aba and surrounding areas. These include the Aro Amano–Eke Aro Road, Adaelu Road, Geometric Road, Afulu Road, Assemblies of God Church Road, 7-Up–Umuchichi Link Road, and several others such as Brewery Road, Etche Road, and the first phase of the Aba Ring Road. Her Excellency Mrs. Priscilla Otti will also visit destitute homes and orphanages on the same day.
On Wednesday, May 27, the focus shifts to children and sports with the Children’s Day Celebration at 10:00 am and the Abia Soccer Fest at 3:30 pm. Several projects will be commissioned including the Umuahia Bus Terminal, Onuimo to Tower Road, Opet to Ahia Eke Road, Ahia Eke to Bende Road, and streets such as Library Avenue, Ibiam Street, and Club Road.
Thursday, May 28, will witness the launch of the Anniversary Documentary and Lecture at the International Conference Centre, Umuahia, at 10:00 am, followed by a reception at Isuikwuato LGA. The day includes multiple project commissions in areas like Uzuakoli, Igbere, and Ohafia, such as the Eluoma Road, NYSC Orientation Camp internal roads, Chris Uche Road, and sections of the Umuahia–Uzuakoli–Abiriba–Ohafia Road.
The grand finale of the celebration will feature an Anniversary Parade at 10:00 am and a State Banquet at 5:00 pm. The Abia State Government has extended an open invitation to Ndi Abia, development partners, stakeholders, diplomats, political leaders, youths, women groups, traditional rulers, and the general public to participate actively in what is described as a historic celebration of progress and visionary leadership under Governor Alex Otti.
