Nigeria’s Ambassador-Designate to the Kingdom of Spain, His Excellency Dr. Okezie Victor Ikpeazu, on Monday, presented copies of his Letters of Credence (Copie d’Usage) to Adrián Martín Couce, the Director-General of Protocol, Chancery and Orders at Spain’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in Madrid.
The presentation of the Copie d’Usage is an important diplomatic procedure that precedes the formal presentation of the original Letters of Credence to His Majesty King Felipe VI of Spain, after which Dr. Ikpeazu will officially assume his duties as Nigeria’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Kingdom of Spain.
The ceremony underscores Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening its longstanding diplomatic relations with Spain, with expectations that the new envoy will work to deepen bilateral cooperation in key sectors including trade, investment, education, tourism, culture, and security.
Dr. Ikpeazu, a former Governor of Abia State, expressed his readiness to advance Nigeria’s foreign policy objectives and foster stronger ties between both countries. His appointment is expected to further enhance the cordial relationship between Nigeria and Spain while promoting mutually beneficial partnerships for the two nations.
