The Secretary to the Anambra State Government, Chiamaka Nnake, has explained her involvement with the purported Made-in-Nigeria agency recently identified by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) as a fake Federal Government entity.
Nnake said her involvement with the organisation began after the Anambra State Government received an official communication from it, claiming to operate under the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
According to the SSG, the organisation contacted Governor Chukwuma Soludo in January 2026 and requested the nomination of a state focal person. She said the governor subsequently appointed her to represent Anambra State in February.
Nnake explained that focal persons nominated by the 36 states were later added to a WhatsApp group where they discussed programmes and activities purportedly being coordinated by the organisation.
She stressed that her interactions with the group were strictly limited to official engagements and assignments received from the Anambra State Government.
The SSG said the organisation later approached the state government with a proposal to host the South-East edition of its Made-in-Nigeria Fair in Anambra. The proposal was approved, with the event scheduled to hold from December 2 to 5, 2026.
She added that a meeting was held about two weeks ago to commence preparations for the fair, with the organisation’s purported National Coordinator reportedly in attendance.
However, following the ICPC’s discovery that the organisation allegedly had no authorisation to operate as a Federal Government agency, Nnake said she had no reason at the time to question its legitimacy because the state government had received what appeared to be official correspondence from the organisation.
The SSG maintained that neither she nor the Anambra State Government had any connection with activities allegedly carried out by the organisation outside the official engagements she had outlined.
Nnake said her involvement was limited to serving as the state focal person and participating in preparations for the proposed Made-in-Nigeria Fair.
She added that any other activities, claims or developments attributed to the organisation were outside her knowledge and involvement.
Her clarification comes amid an ongoing ICPC investigation into the purported agency, which the anti-corruption commission has described as a fictitious Federal Government entity.
