Nigeria’s representative at the 73rd Miss World pageant, Tamunosoye “Soye” Karibi-George, made it to the Top 12 in Nha Trang, Vietnam over the weekend, as Dominican Republic’s Joheirry Mola was crowned Miss World.
Karibi-George’s impressive performance placed her among the leading contestants at the prestigious international pageant, where she represented Nigeria with distinction and emerged as one of the strongest performers from the African continent.
The Nigerian beauty queen had earlier secured an automatic place in the Top 40 after winning the Miss World Top Model for Africa title during the pre-pageant challenges. Her achievement marked one of the highlights of Nigeria’s participation in the competition.
Beyond the runway and pageantry, Karibi-George also used the global platform to promote her advocacy project, “Beyond Labels.” The initiative focuses on social inclusion and seeks greater support and acceptance for people living with disabilities and those facing mental health challenges in Nigeria.
Although she fell short of the final crown, her progression to the Top 12 represents a notable achievement for Nigeria and adds to the country’s record of competitive performances on the Miss World stage. Her journey also brought international attention to issues surrounding inclusion and mental health.
Elisabeth Reynés Alabern of Spain emerged first runner up while Malaysian, Taanusiya Chetty won the Second Runner-Up position.
