BAYELSA’S MERCY SUOYO CROWNED MISS EARTH NIGERIA 2026 IN PORT HARCOURT

Enenimiete Mercy Suoyo on Sunday, emerged Miss Earth Nigeria 2026, following her victory at the grand finale of the silver jubilee edition held at the Palacio Event Centre in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

Suoyo, a native of Okpoama in Brass Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, and graduate of Linguistics and Communication Studies from the University of Port Harcourt, first participated in the Miss Earth Nigeria competition in 2021, where she finished as the first runner-up and was crowned Miss Earth Nigeria – Air 2021. On Sunday, she made history when she emerged from a competitive field of contestants to clinch the coveted crown.

Suoyo has positioned herself as an environmental advocate, with her platform focused on restoring mangrove ecosystems across the Niger Delta and combating plastic pollution through recycling. Her advocacy reflects the environmental challenges confronting communities in the oil-rich region.

Suoyo who will now represent Nigeria at the Miss Earth 2026 international pageant in the Philippines, has also championed initiatives aimed at creating green jobs and improving waste-management infrastructure, while encouraging communities to develop practical responses to the effects of climate change. Her environmental campaign highlights the need for sustainable development and greater community participation in protecting the Niger Delta ecosystem.

Before the grand finale, Suoyo had attracted attention during the competition, including recognition as a contestant with a strong environmental advocacy message. Competing under the moniker Miss Primrose, she continued the journey she began in 2021, eventually turning her previous runner-up finish into the national title.

The first Runner-Up slot went to Mma-Ette who contested as Miss Lilac while Miss Buttercup-Blessing Aremu won the second Runner-Up position.

Miss Earth Nigeria is organized by Serendipity Media Limited and AMC Productions led by beauty Queen and veteran actress, Ibinabo Fiberesima. The pageant focuses heavily on environmental awareness, sustainability, and “beauties for a cause”.
