United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc has dismissed reports circulating on social media alleging that Tony Elumelu, its group chairman, has divorced his wife. The lender described the claims as false, malicious and defamatory. In a statement on Sunday, Alero Ladipo, group head, brand, marketing and corporate communication, UBA, said the publication and similar content were entirely fabricated and intended to mislead the public while damaging the reputation of its chairman.
