French President Emmanuel Macron on Thursday night hosted Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to a private dinner at the Élysée Palace in Paris, in a meeting that underscored the longstanding diplomatic ties between Nigeria and France.
The private engagement took place during Tinubu’s visit to France and provided an opportunity for the two leaders to maintain high-level contact and exchange views on issues of mutual interest, particularly the relationship between both countries.
The meeting further highlighted the shared interest of Nigeria and France in deepening bilateral cooperation in key areas, including trade and investment, security, development and cultural relations.
Nigeria and France have maintained longstanding diplomatic relations, with both countries continuing to explore avenues for expanding their partnership and advancing areas of common interest.
The Élysée Palace, the official residence and principal workplace of the French president, has hosted several high-level engagements between French and Nigerian leaders over the years.
The dinner comes amid continuing efforts by both countries to strengthen their strategic partnership and broaden cooperation in areas of mutual benefit.
