Former Oyo State First Lady, Mrs Florence Ajimobi, has formally commenced her duties as Nigeria’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Austria after presenting her Letters of Credence to Austrian Federal President Alexander Van der Bellen.
The presentation of the diplomatic credentials on Thursday marked the official beginning of her tenure as Nigeria’s representative in Austria.
Ajimobi, who served as First Lady of Oyo State during the administration of her late husband, former Governor Abiola Ajimobi, expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for entrusting her with the diplomatic assignment.
She said she accepted the appointment with a deep sense of responsibility and commitment to advancing Nigeria’s interests and strengthening bilateral relations between Nigeria and Austria.
The new ambassador is expected to focus on deepening diplomatic, economic and cultural ties between the two countries while promoting opportunities that can further benefit Nigeria and its citizens.
Her assumption of duty comes as Nigeria continues to strengthen its diplomatic engagements with Austria and other European partners.
Ajimobi’s appointment had attracted attention, particularly because of her previous public service experience and her years of involvement in community and social development initiatives.
With the presentation of her Letters of Credence now completed, she officially assumes her responsibilities as Nigeria’s Ambassador to Austria.
