PREMIER RECORDS PARTNERS YELLOWDOT TO BRING ICONIC LEGACY MUSIC CATALOG TO CRBT PLATFORMS

Premier Records, Nigeria’s foremost record label has announced a strategic partnership with YellowDot, one of the top CPs in Africa, to make its rich archive of legacy Nigerian music available on Caller Ring Back Tone (CRBT) platforms, opening a new chapter for classic sounds to reach modern audiences.

The collaboration will see Premier Records’ extensive catalog of timeless Nigerian hits digitized and distributed through CRBT services, allowing mobile subscribers across the country to personalize their calls with songs from some of the nation’s most celebrated musical eras. The initiative is expected to preserve and monetize heritage recordings while reconnecting younger listeners with the sounds that shaped Nigeria’s music history.

Speaking on the partnership, Michael Odiong, CEO of Premier Records said the agreement marks a significant step in ensuring that the label’s treasured legacy catalog remains accessible and relevant in the digital age.

“Premier Records has always been committed to preserving the richness of African music heritage. Partnering with YellowDot gives us the opportunity to breathe new life into these classic songs by making them available through an everyday mobile experience. This is not just about technology; it is about keeping our cultural history alive for generations to come,” Odiong said.

Also commenting on the partnership, Ajiri Agborua, a director of Content at YellowDot, described the alliance as a milestone in bridging traditional music catalogs with emerging digital consumption channels.

“At YellowDot, we are passionate about creating innovative pathways for content owners to unlock value from their assets. Our collaboration with Premier Records demonstrates how legacy music can find fresh relevance through CRBT, giving consumers easy access to nostalgic favorites while creating sustainable revenue opportunities for rights holders,” Ajiri said.

The partnership underscores a shared commitment by both organizations to harness technology in preserving and promoting African music heritage. By leveraging CRBT as a distribution platform, Premier Records and YellowDot aim to reintroduce classic songs to millions of subscribers while expanding the commercial potential of Nigeria’s evergreen music catalog.

Industry observers say the move could set a precedent for how legacy labels across Africa monetize archival content in the fast-evolving digital entertainment ecosystem.
